This page lists all the countries that don't have big lists of teams and don't fit nicely onto the other pages. Basically, this is central/southern European, Ireland, and what was the Eastern Block. Of all the countries on this page, only Austria and Switzerland have had teams specifically produced for their club sides. Even though the Irish clubs have been in catalogues since the 1960s, no special club colours were ever produced for them.
The biggest list on this page is for Maltese teams, which just shows that Subbuteo's overseas markets dictated what teams went into the catalogues. For Eastern Europe, just a few famous sides were produced - the sides that English teams tended to play in European competitions in the late 1970s/early 1980s. It's interesting to note that Dukla Prague seems to arrive in the catalogues soon after Half Man Half Biscuit's famous song. No away kit, sadly.

August 2003: Bernard Cros advises that Austrian teams often include the name of the main sponsor into their denomination - e.g. Austria Memphis Wien. So Sturm Durisol are the same team as Sturm Graz (Durisol were a sponsor).

Subbuteo seems to have arrived in Greece in the late 1970s, in the time of the zombie. It picked up a big following at the time, and this is reflected in the number of teams made available.

Subbuteo have always had trouble deciding whether teams are Northern Ireland, or Eire. In the earliest catalogues, they just mention "Irish teams" and don't worry about which bit of Ireland they come from.

Malta.
I've read somewhere that Subbuteo was almost regarded as the national sport of Malta in the 1970s. This is backed up by the large number of Maltese sides in the Subbuteo catalogues. I think the 1971-72 catalogue has more Maltese teams than for any other country outside the UK. Not bad for an island with a population of about 364,000 - who haven't exactly produced any dominant European teams down the years.
Although Malta have more teams listed than Spain, it is true that no numbers were specifically produced to cater for this market. The teams just piggy back on other teams in the range. Also, as you can see, Subbuteo rarely updated the kits here. The Maltese teams disappeared from the listings in the mid 1980s.

I guess this list should be on the end of the Scotland page really, as they are part of the UK. However, the lack of any big sides has meant that the league doesn't gain much attention in England.

Switzerland.
Switzerland has a rather unusual history in Subbuteo. The first time European teams were added to the Subbuteo lists in any numbers was 1973-74, and seven Swiss teams were included in this. Most of these teams survived to 1986, but no other sides were added. Then after ten years in the wilderness, the 1996 catalogue re-introduced Switzerland to the Subbuteo fold.
